The cheap ($30) and very good STRONG SRT 4300 DVR.

I have a bunch of satelite receivers that record to USB, but i like this one best
it browses into directories to display your videos (From your pc), it detects and properly runs
almost all external disk enclosure chips (Does not try to use exhotic functions)
has almost all you want in a simple FTA satellite and recorder / Player, it plays quite a few file formats too

In any case, when i was looking at the Strong Website for an update,
The update on the strong website is Version:1.0.1 – 29.04.2010 while my receiver has the 1.0.1 – 2009-11-1
which seems to be the same software but dated 5 months before
