First of all, i am not happy with my Linux Desktop firefox or with my Windows Firefox, they are lacking on the multi-threading, and on a web all about Javascript, One tab hangs, my whole browser hangs, so firefox is lagging behind chrome and IE in this regard, otherwise, i can say that firefox is probably the best browser out there. Get your shit together firefox, we all have Dual and Quad cores, and we want our browser to utilize them.

Having Plugin container fire up multiple instances will also be nice for multi threading… And just to let you know, my I7 can do 8 threads with 4 cores and 2 hyperthreads per core.

Anyway, back to our subject, Firefox is coming out for tablets and mobile phones with 2 features that will certainly put it in the list of the 3 mobile players !

The first feature is being able to take photos from the phone directly on to the browser so that we can upload photos direct, firefox calls this Camera UI .

The other feature that is probably good for normal (not power) users is the site blacklist where the browser will look up any visited website against a blacklist maintained by mozilla and there affiliates, this is probably going to be an important feature for the upcoming firefox for android.

The latest Linux kernel bears the version number 3.0.4, Not because of ground breaking change in the kernel itself since 2.6.39.4, but the version number comes in time for Linux’s 20th Anniversary.

Note: V. 3 does introduce change mentioned below, But not as big as the name change.

On the internet some are saying that Version 3 will simplify the naming, i fail to see how that is very important, and i doubt that the shorter name will remain much shorter for long, it is probably just time to bump the version number in celebration.

In any case, after 15 years in the 2 branch, and 7 years in the 2.6 branch, it may be a good time to bump to 3.

It is not as if people pay attention to kernel versions (People download latest Distro version instead) but 20 years of Linux is worth some sort of mark.

The one significant change V 3 brings is that now, the kernel is planned to be released every 2 to 3 months, in the 2 branch, it was released whenever there was significant change.

I hope they don’t also mean security updates, those should remain change based (Unless i am missing something).

NOTE By nothing significant changed, i mean that there are the normal additions similar to the older kernel updates, but there are surely changes, here is a small list
